I've been getting ads for the Neuro Linguistic Programming too - I think from Nelson Berry. I was also wondering if anyone else has tried it?

Hi there

There are lots and lots of books and people offering courses about NLP.  I would suggest reading books by Richard Bandler and John Grinder.  People have had good success with NLP.  But my thoughts are that, as with anything, different things will work better for different people and it really depends what changes you are wanting to make in your life.  I found some of the ideas very useful but it didn't help me make the changes I wanted.  Because there is so much information available about NLP you could possibly try the library or some free information from the internet to start with so you can get an idea as to what it's about.

I totally agree with Seaside. As they say, different strokes for different folks.

My experience with NLP is awesome. As a human resource practitioner, I made great use of the techniques, especially the eye-accessing cues. I understand people better in the process, and it helped me a lot in my people-management functions.

Grinder and Bandler are actually the originators of NLP, and have written excellent book on the subject. That is, if you want to learn the in-depths of this field. For me, practical application is more important, which leads me to study the works of Anthony Robins. Tony explains the what and why of NLP, with a good amount spent in the "how." Two of his excellent books are Awaken the Giant Within and Power Unlimited. Find a copy and learn NLP in a few days' time.

Good luck.

Yes, I've read both of these Anthony Robbins books and they are excellent.  They're fairly hefty books but I think you can also get them in audio.

That's right. And audio ebooks are ideal especially when you travel a lot.  Smiley

The traditional book (text) form suits well for me because I take a lot of notes and go back to the pages long after I'm done reading the entire book.

Good feedback Seaside. Thanks.

Paul McKenna is a big proponent of NLP. Not too many people know him in the States, but he is huge in the UK.

He had a short series here in the States last spring I think, called "I Can Make You Thin." I believe it was on Fox, but not sure. He also has a book by the same name that I ordered from the UK last year. Now it is available here as well.

If you do a You Tube search, you will find some of his full-length British television programs. The guy is amazing!

I agree with you Pam. I'm not from the UK but I know PaulM pretty well. Also have some copies of his top sub-recordings.

Have created some subliminals myself using Subliminal Studio. Works great for me and my clients . . .

Cheers!

NLP is great. And it is unfortunately overexposed in ways that are often a bit on the sleazy side, unfortunately.

If you want to learn NLP there are a lot of resources available, and it is a great way to come to learn about
yourself. I know it is a popular thing to want to speak of NLP in terms of what to do to OTHER people, but that
really is the least use it will be.

I have been moderating the NLPTalk-reserve list on Yahoo groups for years now.  Lots of experienced
members happy to answer questions and point you to resources for those interested. Newbies and trainers
alike, and no spam is allowed. You can find it on Google I should think if you are interested. Our discussions
can sometimes be robust ;-)

Bandler and Grinder books as mentioned are a great way to start. But do keep in mind, this is a topic that
does require a good amount of study to really "get it" in a useful way. It is no instant answer, though for
many, the rewards of understanding how we operate can start coming quite fast.

This is my first post to this board. Hope to get to know you all better over time.

Regards

Lindy

There are loads of NLP resources available, including my own site which is free (you'll have to check my profile), just be aware that there are a lot of people trying to sell nlp as if there is some hidden knowledge or secrets - don't fall for them.

If you want a book start with something like "Using your brain for a change" by richard bandler (or either of his two latest books which include cds/dvds). Paul McKenna also has some fun stuff.
